This is a personal project in which I illustrated and layouted a poem as a poster. The poem was written by Thiago de Mello in 1964, as a protest against the many repressive extra-constitutional decrees issued by the military junta, which had seized power in Brazil that same year. It is called Os Estatutos do Homem, which means The Statutes of Humankind.

The poem was written in Portuguese, but I have included a translation of the poem in French, because that is the language in which I read it. (There is also a French song that samples the poem, which is how I found it in the first place – you can listen to it here) Sadly the poem does not retain all of its beauty when translated to English (in my opinion).
